Careers Support
Careers Services
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is the national skills body, and we deliver Scotland’s careers service in schools, in centres and online.
Our careers advisers work in partnership with every state secondary school in Scotland, delivering career guidance to enable young people from S1-S6 to develop their Career Management Skills.
Your Careers Adviser is Phyllis McCann and you can get in touch with her via email: phyllis.mccann@sds.co.uk or via the school contact number. Phyllis provides a drop in service, group work and 1:1 careers guidance support.
My World of Work is our award-winning online career information and advice service and is used by pupils throughout their time at school and beyond.
There’s a dedicated area for parents and carers on My World of Work that offers information to help those career conversations with your young person, understand skills in demand from employers, and suggests ways to explore the different routes and pathways that young people can take.
Learning options
There are lots of different ways to learn. Some people study best in lectures and classes. For others, hands- on training like apprenticeships is best. However you want to learn, there's something to suit you and we're here to help guide you through options available.

Become an apprentice: Foundation / Modern / Graduate……
Apprenticeships come in loads of shapes and sizes – and we’re here to help you decide which would be best for you. Whether you see yourself on a film set, studying animals or running your own business in the future – an apprenticeship will help you get there.
